What This Policy Does Not Cover

Purposes of Collection of Personal Information

CBM collects personal information for the following limited purposes:

  2. To keep track of donor preferences
  3. To keep donors informed of CBM’s work and new opportunities for support
  4. To establish and maintain contact and mailing lists
  5. To gather data on how this website is used

CBM collects information from our website visitors via our online webforms. All messages are sent directly to CBM email inboxes and it is dealt with in a confidential manner.  CBM will never sell or give your emails to a third party.

Usage of Website

CBM captures limited site traffic information - namely cookie data and JavaScript page tagging. Cookies and JavaScript page tags do not record any information about an individual's name or address whilst you view our site but it does allow us to analyse which pages are popular for the purpose of improving the content and usability of this site.

This traffic information data helps our marketing and fundraising departments to understand our audience, and adapt our content to suit user interests.

Matomo

Our website uses Matomo (formerly known as Piwik), an open-source analysis platform of InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011, Wellington, New Zealand. Matomo uses a cookie in order to analyse our website with regard to your user behaviour. The cookie which is stored on your computer when you visit our website stores and also transmits your anonymised IP address. This means that when the data is transferred to our server, the IP address is shortened in such a way that we can no longer identify you as a visitor to our website. The user data transmitted by the cookie to us is only evaluated by us and not passed on to third parties. Evaluation exclusively serves to optimise and further develop our website.

How CBM Uses Your Personal Information

CBM does not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose personal information about our website visitors, except as described here. We share information provided by our website visitors with service providers we have retained to perform services on our behalf for example, to process donations.

Donations

When you make a donation through our website, we may ask you to submit certain personal information (such as credit card information) so we can process your donation. We use the credit card information you provide only to fulfil the transaction you requested. We maintain your contact information in our records so we can contact you to provide CBM program information and information on additional giving opportunities.

Online Transactions

CBM will never ask you to confirm your bank details via email. If you should receive an email requesting such information, please contact us. This kind of email may be from persons attempting to obtain your banking details ('phishing').
You are always advised to protect your details and not to provide CBM directly with your card details.

How Your Donation Is Used

CBM is committed to respecting your preference of how you want your donation to be used. However, if more funds than required are received for a particular project, program or item, CBM will use the surplus funds in another project or program within its mandate area.
